Lithuanian Language Summer Course Started

Students from Ireland, Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Great Britain, India, Spain, Japan, USA, Canada Kazakhstan, Latvia, Poland, Netherlands, Lithuania, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Hungary, and Germany take part in the Lithuanian language summer course from 30 June to 25 July 2014.

 

Course participants study the Lithuanian language and attend lectures on Lithuanian culture (calendar festivals, customs, history, sociolinguistic situation, social and political life, Vilnius University) and nature for four to six academic hours daily. After classes student go on tour round Vilnius University and the Old Town. They also visit the Lithuanian President‘s Office, National Museum, Palace of the Grand Dukes, Museum of Genocide Victims, belfry of St Johns‘ Church and learn some Lithuanian folk songs and dances as well as traditional craftsmanship.

 

On 11 July, students will dance and sing along with the folk ensemble RATILIO of Vilnius University and try out some traditional Lithuanian dishes.

 

Participants of the Lithuanian summer course will go on tour to Kernavė, Kaunas, and Trakai on Saturdays.
